Facts That You May Not Have Known About de Been Jiu Jitsu

Peter de Been was an Australian Pioneer on the World Competition circuit competing from 1995 - 2004 at all the World majors.

He collected many victories along the way including a podium finish at the 2001 IBJJF Pan American Championship in Atlanta USA, in the Black Belt Adult Light weight division - as of 2017 this accomplishment has still not been equalled by another Australian.

Pete was also ranked by the IBJJF as 5th in World in 2003 for the Black Belt Adult Light weight division.

de Been Jiu Jitsu has made many champions including Michael Wilson who was Australia’s first IBJJF World Champion - Michael won the prestigious title in the Adult Absolute division at the 2004 World Championships. Learn more about our competition history here.

Max de Been is a World prodigy from de Been Jiu Jitsu. Max has numerous titles to his name including 11 time consecutive Pan Pacific Champion, Podium finish at Rio State Championship, Podium finish at IBJJF World Championship, and Brasilian National Champion.

Max is Australia’s most recognised International competitor being the only Australian to compete on the World Tour. The World Tour runs from January to June each year and Max, at the young age of 20 is committed to the next ten years. The circuit consists of European Championship, Pan American Championship, Abu Dhabi Championship, Brasil National Championship and the World Championship.
